Gus, Don’t Be A…

We know each other pretty well dear reader, but there’s more to me than meets the eye. I’m not just another pretty blog. I’m like an onion. Or an ogre. Or cake. The point is that I have layers.

One of those layers is television viewing. (I didn’t say the layers were deep). You might think that I’m a TV junkie being Mr. Pop Culture and all, but the truth is that I hardly watch outside of football and some hockey. When a show does get me interested I still watch through the internet.

Well, I’ve been thinking there’s something missing in our relationship, you and I. Quite simply, you should at least know what my very favoritest show is on telly these days. That top spot belongs to a brilliant creation called Psych.

If you don’t know anything about Psych the show is about a hyper-observant Gen Xer who pretends to by psychic in order to get work as a police consultant. His best friend Gus joins him. The show is ridiculously funny and filled with references and guest stars from the last 25 years of culture. The writers also work in delicious meta references just the way I like it. They don’t take themselves too seriously. At all.

So basically I think Psych is one of the greatest shows ever devised. It’s coming back on for a new season tonight (even though I probably won’t watch until it’s online), so I figured I’d let you know what you might be missing. I recommend starting with season 1.
